IDV Solutions Airports Visualization

This demonstrator was made in early 2005.  It displays world airports catetegorized by hub size and tracks their percentage of late departures along a timeline.  Bubble charting has been a useful means by which to track changing linear values through time.  In the 3D environment, extrusions will proove to be more immersive and useful.  Current and forecasted weather maps form the National Weather Service are pulled in when an airport is selected.  Buttery smooth video narration courtesy Jim Keenan.

This application was demo’ed in Bill Gates’ 2006 CEO Summit keynote address.  What a sweet, sweet day it was.
